Reiki Healing

Reiki (pronounced “Ray Key”) comes from the words Rei (universal) and Ki (life energy).

It is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is vital to our well being. If your “life force energy” is low then you are more likely to get sick or feel stress. If it is high, you are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Reiki works on many levels – our spirituality, our thoughts, our emotions and our physical body. It works wherever the recipient needs it most, releasing blocked energies, cleansing the body of toxins and working to create a state of balance.

The whole body is treated even when pain or illness is localised, so that the energy can go to the cause of the imbalance, not just to the manifesting symptoms. Reiki goes to the areas of need, supporting the body's natural ability to heal itself.

What to Expect

A full treatment is given with the recipient lying fully clothed on a couch or sitting in a chair. It is a hands-on treatment with the therapist placing their hands on a sequence of positions on the body from head to foot to transmit the Reiki energy.

It is not intrusive or embarrassing and most people enjoy the contact. When receiving Reiki you may feel pleasant warmth, tingling or coolness in the area being treated. Most people fall into a mild state of relaxation feeling a release of tension and anxiety that allows healing to begin. Some people fall asleep during treatment and awake fully refreshed and revitalised.
